The Story of the Fables

The Fables started out as an experiment with new sounds and writing styles. Borrowing musical idioms from influences of 20th-century composers such as Arnold Bax, Frank Bridge, Alexander Scriabin, and Jacques Ibert (to name a few), Daniel set out on a journey of musical imagination. The original goal of the project was to produce a nine-chapter musical “storybook.” However, not two days after the ninth installment was complete, an idea for the tenth caused nine more pieces to be written.

Listening through the Fables will be an exercise of the imagination.

Each “chapter” was written with an intent to evoke a nostalgia of fantastical stories and fairy tales.
